- December: my best friend in Missouri, mentioned in a previous post, did come out to visit me for a week!! we got to spend Christmas together and do fun touristy things :D it was fantastic.
- January: i turned the big 1-7! haha, it wasn't that exciting though. i just had three friends over for fondue and a little bon fire whilst playing "Would You Rather.." on a sad note: that was the last time i saw my on-again, off-again best friend, DL. i really don't know what happened. i guess she was tired of my apparently "perfect" life and wanted to move on. whatever. i still care about her and frequently scan her myspace to see what's up in her life. :/
- February: i got my permit! but haven't been driving nearly as much as i should have.
- March: ehh, nothing happened. ahah
- April: ... nothing much besides class.
- May: volunteered at a deaf convention with my ASL 102 teacher, Lisa C., and got to be immersed in my favorite language. the kids were too cute! i want to go again this year.
- June: finals, etc. OH, and i tested out of high school. hehe ;) when i took the test, it was almost amusing how easy it was. i could have taken it in eighth grade and passed, probably better then i did now. hahah. also, this month was a great hang out time with friends. although the first night i stayed out a bit too late (try getting home around 2AM..), the rest of the hang outs took place at my house after VR by request of my mother. it's totally understandable and i had no problem with it. i liked being at my house better than the park anyway :P
- July/August: i got to
wave my friends goodbye as they embarked on a missions trip to "Texico" and they in turn waved me off to London and France! my trip was FANTASTIC. i don't even know what to say about it really. it was more than i could ask for. spending time with my godfather, David, and his partner, Michael, was truly a blast. they definitely spoiled me while we were in France. and they basically let me do anything i wanted while we were in London. i somehow got them both to take me to see Phanton of the Opera despite David's abhorrence to plays. haha. bottom line: this trip was the best i've taken so far. - September: started my first full-time semester at GCC, and it was great. i'm still waiting to get back all my grades, but it's looking good so far.
- October: hmm.. it's harder to remember what i did during this time compared to earlier in the year. i'm telling you, my memory has been on a vacay or something. OHH i got a job. hahah. i applied for it in June and they finally decided they needed me..? but it's really not my favorite place to work. i don't fit in and i don't want to fit in. oh well..

- November: BRACEFACE NO LONGER! on november twenty-first, the braces came off (it only took FOUR-freakin'-HOURS) and on the same day Twilight was watched for the first time :) what a hppy day.. oh, and the family went on a trip to Newport Dunes for Thanksgiving. quite an interesting time, if i do say so myself. the night before Turkey Day, the power went out and left us with no adequate meal for the big day. we didn't want to risk going to the restaurant when the food hadn't been refridgerated for 14 hours. but it was a pretty good trip. we rented a sweet bike i rode around the park and i batted my eyelashes at the only two boys around. hahah.
- December: it's hard to believe it's not december anymore! let's see, i had finals which were pretty good, work.. VR had a service project day where we went to this "mental clinic" in Watts (AKA where the Crips shoot the Bloods, vice versa) and we brought goodie bags and sang in the halls. i ended up meeting this sweet deaf lady who, i think, appreciated having someone who could understand her. although she was not mentally "all there," she was a sweetheart and as friendly as could be. it was so cool because i was able to introduce her to my friends and translate for them. it felt amazing to have an opportunity outside of school to use my signing!! that following week, a small group of people including myself, got together and went to another convalescent home and brought cookies and sang around the rooms. it was scary and nervewracking but i think the people appreciated our efforts.. hmm, also this month i got to hang out with friends a lot and have fun holiday activities :) i went to a New Year's Eve party at a friend's house where an unintentionally amusing young actress was in attendence. hah.
oh and if you're wondering, i didn't come up with any New Year's Resolutions besides trying to be more talkative at work so they don't think i'm a loser. but perhaps writing on this blog should be included :)
till next time,
kate

Wow. A service day at a MENTAL hospital in WATTS. haha. You are QUITE the trooper! And who was the actress? The one you already kinda know or a different one? :) I must ask.
Ahahha, yess definitely. It was an experience. Umm the actress mentioned is a different one - I met her that night. I'm not sure who the other one that you know of is.. Gimme a hint? I"ll have to tell you about it when we hang out. Haha.
